The context bar sits in the editor’s top bar and gives you one list of every page, template, and component on your site, drafts and scheduled pages included. Type a word, click a result, and you’re there. It also lets you pick which post a template loads with, so you can check your blog templates with real content along the way.
Find the context bar
The Exit to WordPress button sits right next to Update, and search is in the top bar as the context bar.
Click the context bar in the top bar. Everything on your site shows up in one list: your pages, your templates, and your components.
Search your site
Scheduled, private, and draft pages are in the list too, so you can reach work in progress the same way as live pages.
Start typing a word and matching results appear right away. Click one to open it in the editor.
Edit with post content
Pick the blog archive page from the context bar. The editor switches to it instantly.
Choose a post and the editor loads with that exact post’s content, so you’re styling the template around real text and images instead of placeholders.
Pick another post to see how the template handles different content. You can keep editing your templates the whole time without leaving the editor.
Result
You can now reach any page, template, or component from one search bar, drafts and scheduled pages included, without hunting through WordPress menus. When you open a template, you can also load a real post into it and switch between posts while you edit.
